LETTERS
-------
Dear Tony and team.
Last issue was bloody marvelous! Keep it up.
Rodders.
I always keep it up Rodney Ha!
------------------------
To Nigel.
Dear Nigel,
I wasn't the least offended by you spelling my name in a different way.
I thought it was funny so I mentioned something about it.You are doing
your utmost to spell it correctly now, seeing you mentioned it a few times
in your letter on disk to Tony. I feel honoured by getting so much
attention!
I have a tip for you regarding Imagine (perhaps Tony has thought about
this himself already). In our PD Library for Amiga there is a Buddy
System for Imagine and on the first disk is a textfile, called BSI.txt.
This text can easily be read on the PC in any texteditor (i.e. Dos Edit)
that reads ASCII files. There is some code in it, as it is incorporated
in the program itself, but this is not so annoying. It gives a lot of
information on all aspects of Imagine.
Moreover, as I mentioned already in my letter to Tony, on the CU Amiga
CD Rom there is another very informative Tutorial text as an AmigaGuide
document called: D2Imagine.guide which is freely distributable.
I could send you these 2 documents myself but I think getting them
through Tony is much easier for you. Hope this will be helpful.
All the best. Mieke.
------------------------------
The issue 25 was really great Tony. I was stuck with Imagine and now
I am able to use it thanks to your tutorial. I like the 3D kits but
am also interested in other programs so please feature more.
Thanks again.
Stephen Turton.
Thankyou Stephen.
I am glad that the tutorial was helpful and I hope to bring
many more of the same.
Tony
------------------------------
Dear Tony,
Thanks for the 25th issue of our Disk Magazine. Although just a few
members have in fact contributed to this issue, it is still packed
fully with most enjoyable readings, borders, tutorials and datafiles.
I still think the 3DKits are the only affordable 3D programs with
which you can do more in real time than with other 3D packages.
So I believe, as long as there is enough feedback and interest, this
program should be number one in our magazine.
But time doesn't stand still and if you see the amazing 3D packages
that are available nowadays it is a very good idea to introduce
some of them in our magazine too, especially as they are often given
away by several magazines on at least two of our three used computer
formats. So you may assume that most of our readers (all interested
in 3D stuff) will have a few in their possession.
This is especially true for Imagine and Vista Pro. I have tried
some things out with Imagine 3.0 both on the Amiga and the PC and
I believe that, once you know how to find your way in this program,
its features are very powerful.
I must compliment the CU Amiga Magazine. Not only have they given away
Imagine 3.0 as a coverdisk on one of their issues, but they also give
a very thorough feedback in the tutorials they placed up till now in
their magazines following the coverdisk issue.
I followed these tutorials and already learnt a lot of them.
On their May CD Rom they placed a lot of Imagine objects and also a
rather big AmigaGuide textfile which has been compiled from Web pages
and contains a lot of Imagine tutorials. This document is freely
distributable as are the Imagine objects.
Your own tutorial is most informative too and I hope to see more of
this on future disks. If I can I will also contribute.
I also have of copy of Real 3D given away by Amiga Format a while
ago. I didn't follow their tutorials on it (although they are
still giving them in their magazine) because I've decided to stick
to Imagine.
On the PC I've found an amazing 3D editor which could really become
a competitor to Superscape. It's called the RealiMation Space Time
Editor and works under Windows. It is on the PC Answers CD Rom of
June as a full commercial package that can be used for 45 days as
from installation. To really use it to the fullest you must have
a heavy PC (Pentium) with 16 MB ram. But on my 486 with 8 MB it
works reasonably. This is, apart from Superscape, the first 3D
package I've seen in which you can also create a world and make
changes to it in real time. You can walk and fly around in it in
real time. You can animate everything and under Windows the objects
are really a pleasure to edit.
Anyway, as far as I am concerned, do go on the way you are planning
it now and I hope you will also get a lot of feedback from other
'dimensioners'.
And now I can say: 'see you in Cyberspace' as I have an internet
account too. My E-mail address is: mvdpoll@worldaccess.nl
All the best from
Mieke
There should be a tutorial next month on the use of Real3D, Mieke.
This will show yet another 3D package. I have decided to stay with
the 3D construction kit mainly, and to fill in the rest of the disk
space with other 3D packages and tutorials. There will be some great
items coming up in the following issues of the diskmag.
All the best...
Tony
